菲利普•赫希(Philip Hirsch)出生于1957年。1978年获英国牛津大学地理学学士学位,1980年获邓迪大学地理学硕士学位,1986年获得伦敦大学亚非学院社会人类学博士学位。至今已在悉尼大学任教30年,为悉尼大学人文地理学教授。曾任澳大利亚湄公河资源研究中心主任,目前为清迈大学区域社会科学与可持续发展研究中心研究员。赫希教授已发表了大量的有关泰国和湄公河周边广大区域环境、发展与农业转型的论文。近年编著及合著的作品主要有:《排斥之权力:东南亚的土地困境》(2011)、《湄公河:社会法律视角的流域开发》(2016)、《劳特里奇东南亚环境手册》(2017)等。
Short-bio of the speaker:
Born in 1957, Philip Hirsch obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Geography (1978) from Oxford University, a MPhil degree in Geography (1980) from University of Dundee, and a PhD degree in Social Anthropology (1986) from University of London. He is Emeritus Professor of Human Geography at the University of Sydney, where he taught for 30 years until 2017. He was Director of the Australian Mekong Resource Centre. He is currently affiliated with the Regional Centre for Social Science and Sustainable Development at Chiang Mai University. Professor Hirsch has published extensively on questions of environment, development and agrarian change in Thailand and the wider Mekong Region. He is co-author with Derek Hall and Tania Li of Powers of Exclusion: Land dilemmas in Southeast Asia (Singapore University Press 2011), with Ben Boer, Fleur Johns, Ben Saul and Natalia Scurrah of The Mekong: A socio-legal approach to river basin development (Earthscan/Routledge 2016), and he edited the Routledge Handbook of Environment in Southeast Asia (Routledge 2017).
